Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

God has blessed our congregation with committed Christians dedicated to loving our Lord and serving others. We are so thankful for the servant hearts and generosity we see everyday. Our eldership is united in spirit and in our desire to do God’s will as best as we understand it. We desire and appreciate your prayers that we will always be in the Word and obedient to God’s will for us and His Church. We also realize that this leadership role is temporary. We are obligated to pass it on to faithful men who are equipped with the desire, talents and heart to lead with humility and reverent submission to God’s will.

We now have twelve elders. Some have been serving for many years. We anticipate that some will choose to step down or retire from the eldership in the not too distant future. To prepare for this possibility and to give other qualified men the opportunity to serve as elders, we are beginning the process of identifying men to be considered to serve as elders. The entire process will be bathed in study, prayer and fasting. Walt will deliver a message about elders this Sunday, September 20.

The next step in this process is for each member to complete a form to tell us the men you believe are qualified and should be considered to serve as elders. Click here for an Elder Recommendation Form for your use in submitting the names of no more than five men that you strongly believe are qualified to serve as elders of this congregation.

On Wednesday, September 23, the elders are inviting everyone to join us in a day of prayer and fasting. Please submit your Elder Recommendation Form by October 4.  Paper copies of the form are available at the Brentwood Hills Information Center.

Final deliberations will begin as that information is processed and prayerfully evaluated. We anticipate that new elders will be installed somewhere around the first of the year.

Each of us is honored to serve God and the Christians that meet here at Brentwood Hills. He has blessed us in many ways, including boundless opportunities to serve and teach others about Jesus. Please pray with us and for us as we seek to do God’s will.

Grace and Peace,
The Brentwood Hills Elders
