Join us Sunday mornings this Spring!

Class Title: Revelation
Taught By: Lamar Bowman & Hank Staggs
Meeting In: Main Auditorium
A study of Revelation and its call to endure the challenges we face as God’s people, to respond to these
challenges with redemptive action, to pattern our lives and communities in the cruciform way of the Lamb, and
ultimately, to participate together in the ongoing mission of God in the world.

Class Title: A Practical Guide to Culture
Taught By: Kevin Burns & Guest Speakers
Meeting In: Family Life Center
How did the early church engage their culture? Does scripture really speak to what we face today? What does
scripture say about idolatry, addiction, sectarianism, entertainment, pornography, sexual immorality, and
affluence? This class aims to equip our families with the understanding necessary to train our children as
disciples in a secular culture. Our call is to remember the teachings of God and to teach them to our children. In
addressing these topics, we will ground ourselves in the history of God’s activity amongst His people and in the
context of scripture. We will explore what it means to give one’s allegiance to God alone while also seeking the
welfare of one’s community. The early church did just that. That is the challenge before us today.

Class Title: Prayer & Practicing the Presence of God
Taught By: Ritchie & Kelly Pickens
Meeting In: Small Auditorium
From the beginning, we were made to be in a relationship with God and others. Having been created in God’s
image and given freedom, we may choose each day to walk with God or “go it alone.” This class will explore the
spiritual discipline of being in God’s presence and being present daily with God. We will do this through study,
prayer, practicing God’s presence together, and sharing God’s revelations and the lessons learned. Practicing the
presence of God daily can be very much like a leisurely walk with someone in a garden. It may help you to
experience the beauty of what you see, share what you are thinking, talk about the challenges of the day, and let
God carry your load during the walk. A daily relationship with God and an emphasis on prayer are guaranteed
to help you fulfill God’s purpose for your life. We have had an awakening, so let’s stay awake and keep praying.

Class Title: Life in the First Century Church
Taught By: John Young
Meeting In: Reception Room
A hybrid study of Hebrews and James that explores the challenges that first generation Christians faced and
what we can learn from them today. Hebrews addresses the danger of spiritual indifference and speaks to
believers who have grown up in the Christian faith but have grown away from it. James sets a vision for
Christian life at its best and underscores the importance of perseverance, spiritual maturity, unselfishness in
relationships, patience, and the power of prayer. Our deeper look into the context of James and Hebrews will
help us see the effort made to keep the first generation of Christians focused on Jesus in the midst of difficulties,
distractions, and temptations to discount the value of their faith in Christ.

Class Title: Christian Leadership in Uncharted Territory
Taught By: Enoch Rinks
Meeting In: Cedar Room

We are entering a new day, new terrain and new adventure. The Spirit of God goes before us and the mission of
Christ will not fail us. The next steps will be demanding, and those who are leading in homes, schools, and at
work must find courage and develop the capacity for a new day. How can we lead and be faithful to the mission
of God when the world is changing so radically? What are the tools and wise actions needed for the journey?
What transformation does it require of those who have been called to lead? We will explore these questions and
more through Tod Bolsinger’s book Canoeing the Mountains and the examples of leaders in the Bible.

Class Title: Women’s Class: “Fight Back With Joy”
Taught By: Susan Hale
Meeting In: Room 502

Learn to practice joy — defiant joy — with Margaret Feinberg in her study, “Fight Back With Joy.” Sooner or
later, we find ourselves on the battlefield of life and struggle to know how to respond. But God says, “Do not
be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:15).
On that fateful day, King Jehoshaphat and his army marched forward rejoicing. Though we can choose from
many weapons, God wants to empower us to fight back with joy and embrace a life that’s richer and fuller than
we’ve ever known before — a life radiant with joy.
