Jonathan’s Journey Tuesday July 20, 2010 Be begin the last leg of our Journey… Monday…was a day to finish projects. We finished bagging food and clothes…we cleaned the warehouse at the JMA Clinic and our group then headed out to several local neighborhoods to distribute food. Meanwhile, our construction crew led by Mary Kate Collins and Wendy Burch…went to down on finishing our house! Bunk beds were made and the final touches were added! Mark Brewer, Dick Garner, Roberto Santiago and myself…had several meetings to attend (I can’t get away from meetings---it is my life in Nashville and Honduras!). We also made stop at both construction locations…and met with the homeowners to work out details about how to finish the projects. Tools were stored....areas were cleaned…and then about 75 of us headed up the mountain to celebrate together with a great meal at La Cumbre. A beautiful restaurant that overlooks the city. We try to get there to watch the city go from daylight to twilight to a lighted city in the night. The weather was great (maybe a little cool for some…and the indoor fireplace felt great)---no rain! The curves and the trip up and down…it rough on our drivers—especially on a rainy night. One of our drivers---Marco---told us that he worries about this trip all week---because he is concerned for our safety! He and the rest of the drivers did a great job! Our evening concluded with Gladys---a co-worker and friend of our brother Nahum---being baptized by Dick Garner in the pool at the hotel. What a great way to top off a wonderful trip! We then wrapped everything up with a devotional and share time. We sang, we shared, we laughed, we cried…as we gave God the Glory. Declaring that we don’t want to do anything out of selfish ambition or conceit, but we prayed that we would humbly consider other better than ourselves. (Philippians 2:3). To those given a lot…much is expected. We are not making bucket list…instead we are making list of things…that we will never complain about…after what we saw here this week. And just as our 2010 “World Cup” mission shirts say, “One week changes everything”! This one week in our Journey…can change everything in the life of an individual here…and in the live of our brigade members. We had a great group this year…it has gone smoothly…and a lot of that can be credited to this group…I didn’t get complaints…I just got a lot of support and help! Thanks to each of them….and as I say at camp…I hope each of them…including myself…”Go home a little better than when they came”! Thanks for the prayers…and support….I’ve got to go pack and get organized to pay the bills---etc---as we get set for a busy travel day…breakfast---off to Baxter---Chapel and the Baxter Chorus---on to the airport for our flight to Miami…and finally home to Nashville late tonight! Please say an extra prayer for us today…Adios Amigo---for we are Amigo Con Cristo! Sharing Light and Love on our Journey to the Son. Jonathan, Thanks so much for your updates about the Honduras trip! I know how busy & exhausting your days must be, but it is so comforting for us to read the reports about the group's activities. It makes me wish I was there again! I really wanted to jump in and go with you at the last minute, but felt like I needed to be with Kevin helping get Kyle moved & settled in Saginaw. We will be praying for smooth travels for all of you tomorrow. Give a hug to Mary Kate for me!
